“ Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me”
— Matthew 19:14
Miracle Kidz – each one a gift from God
On some days, Good Shepherd is visited by an extension of our church family – the babies and children of Miracle Kidz. Miracle Kidz is a safe home for children between the ages of x and x, started by Elsie and Ras du Plessis. Good Shepherd decided to back Miracle Kidz in prayer and partnership in 2012 in order to come alongside these precious gifts from God.
Every child a miracle
Elsie’s passion for children began out of her own childhood spent in foster homes. This tough beginning led to Elsie fostering children herself and the establishment of this safe home for vulnerable and abused children. The house offers a safe and loving temporary home to abused, abandoned and neglected children. Here, every child’s recovery from abuse is seen as a miracle.
A stepping stone
The safe house is not an orphanage, but a stepping stone where children can wait to be reunited with other family members or placed in foster care. Miracle Kidz tends to the children and cares for their brokenness: body mind and spirit. Of course, the Miracle Kidz team hopes to see the safe house grow into a large foster home, where children are able to feel safe and secure until they are 18 years old.
Support the day-to-day…and the dreams
Miracle Kidz needs your help to feed, clothe and educate the children in their care. Extend your hand to them and feel the reward of being part of this compassionate, safe place for children. Contact Miracle Kidz if you would like to play a role in educating one of the children. You can also contact Elsie if you can make her dreams of a house where the children can be part of a family, come true.
